Rug of the Month
The January Rug of the Month is a beautiful rug. This Persian Bidjar, woven sometime in the early 20th century, measures 9.1x12.3 and is in excellent condition. Bidjar is a town in Northwest Iran that has been a stronghold of rug weaving for centuries. Bidjar rugs, often referred to as the "iron rugs of Persia" are extremely well made and durable. A combination of high-quality wool, tight knots and a unique double-wefting method seen in Bidjar rugs gives these rugs their well-deserved reputation. This particular rug is made in the traditional colors of blues and deep reds. It has an overall vining pattern, intermingled with floral elements, often referred to as an Arabesque design. The images below show a close-up of the design elements in the rug, but you must come to our showroom to see for yourself the quality of this rug!
